Boss: Tell <name> that the cart has to be gone before she goes home.
But I’m not comfortable telling people important things on behalf of a boss. If a boss wants something done by a co-worker, they should tell them personally.
So I explain it to the boss. She doesn’t really understand why I feel that way, but she accepts it. Later I’m thinking.
Imagination:
Boss: Tell <name> that the cart has to be gone before she goes home.
Later
Me: Boss said your house exploded. Everyone you know and love are dead.
Co-worker: What?
Me: Oh, I’m sorry, what I meant to say was that boss said the cart has to be gone before you go home.
Me: And now it doesn’t seem that bad, right?
