A new attempt at a blog by a wandering artist/writer.

I want to write or draw comics for a living. I also role play (in person preferably, D&D or something like that).

I am a man in my mid-20s. Now shooting for a bachelor's in english. Not sure what to do after that though.

afternoon pages

I don’t have a lot to write about today.  Wish I did.  I keep seeing all these books in the stores, or see things on t.v. and think: Man, I could totally write that.  This thing that I’m doing, it’s called coveting.  It’s the last of the things to nix because of the ten commandments, but it’s sooo easy to do.

I have a car, an apartment, clothes to wear, a job, food to eat, a computer, internet, a fish that loves me (I hope), a Mom that cares about me, good friends.

So why do I write?  Do I write for approval?  Do I like to read my own text?  What is it?

There’s a great verse I’d love to look at in my bible, but I left it at church Thursday.  Let me see if I can track it down via el internet.

Found something else though.

Check out Ecclesiastes 3:15

“Whatever is has already been,
    and what will be has been before;
    and God will call the past to account.

So as nerds, we complain about nothing being new.  Maybe nothing has been new for a looong time.  Maybe longer than there were written words.  Before there were superhumans/superheroes, there were gods, demigods, spirits, angels.

How many civilizations are we sitting on top of right now?

Finally ,the verses I’m looking for:

Ecclesiastes 4:4

“And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.”

So we’re all like this?  So everytime I read a top quality american comic and think: Man, I wish I were that guy. That guy is over reading his buddy from Tokyopop and going: Man, I wish I were that guy.

And it loops around like that little recycling sign!
